Localized vulvodynia (often vestibulodynia): Pain mainly occurs around the vaginal opening (vestibule), often triggered by touch, intercourse, tampon use, or examinations.
Generalized vulvodynia: Pain may occur across a larger area of the vulva and can be constant or intermittent.
